It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.
There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining.
All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.
Members can choose to wear the uniform or not.
Members can also choose to take the Scout Promise or not.
Every hour that members can give in a year are regarded as a valuable commodity.
The District Scout Active Support Unit (DAS) can be a source of extra adult help in Leader absence, or they can teach skills that the existing Leader team do not have, such as pioneering, cooking, information technology etc.
It can provide support to our Explorer Scouts or the Scout Network when planning international expeditions.
This could include fundraising.
The ways that Scout Active support can support Scouting are endless and in Ripon & District there is already a very 'active' unit which would welcome YOUR help!
There is also an opportunity for various social activities within the unit such as an annual dinner, 10 pin bowling evening, theatre trip, bike ride, and garden visit to name but a few.
For further details of the programme and details of what you need to do to join, contact the DAS Manager, Mrs Anne Collins, on 01423 322458
